Save your time and money and go to Tivoli instead. If youre looking for a beautiful theater compared to the run of the mill, dont go here. For $7, it is not only blown away by Tivoli in comparison, it was probably my worst movie going experience to date. Even my wife and friends said it sounded bad and it was hard to hear the dialogue. I went to speak to the manager to let him know and he went to take a look. It sounded like only the front speakers were on. The movie started and the sound was faint and thin. The theater was dirty and kind of crummy. It was a small little theater with a small screen. So when we heard it was packed, we decided to go to Glen Ellyn Art Theater. The live organ player before the show and the look and feel of the theater was amazing. We had been to Tivoli once before to see Argo for $5 and we were blown away. My wife and I and some friends went to the Tivoli Theater in Downers Grove to see Lincoln but it was packed by the time we got there. Last night I was close to walking out again. Im usually very easily pleased and Ive only walked out on one movie my entire life. Its an old cold theater with a disgustingly rude manager who is too cheap to turn on the heat and doesnt care that the customers are extremely uncomfortable. I will NEVER go there again as long as that manager is there. So we didnt get to see the movie, we didnt get a refund and he wouldnt turn up the heat. My friend told him that hes been going to that theater for over 20 years and the manager could have cared less. He was acting like a total jerk and just wanted to give us a hard time. He just didnt want to turn up the heat because we were the only ones there and didnt care that I was freezing. I reminded this guy that WE were the ONLY people there !!! Then he made the ridiculous comment that if he turned up the heat that the people TOMORROW would be too warm. Then he changed his story and said if he turned up the heat the OTHER people would be uncomfortable. As I said, first he said that it was an old building and it would take a long time to heat up. So we finally told the manager that we had to leave because it was too cold to stay. I got a sore throat in there it was so cold. I was so cold that I had a big coat on, a coat over my lap and was drinking a hot drink to try to stay warm. First he said it was an old building and it would take a long time to heat up.
He said he did but it was still freezing cold. We asked the person working there who said he was the manager to turn up the heat twice. We were the ONLY people in the theater and it was freezing cold. We had a terrible experience there tonight.
